Why Solar Energy?
- In PV systems, a flow of direct current (DC) electricity is produced when sunlight hits the solar panels. But, homes and businesses require alternating current (AC), as supplied by one’s utility.
- The DC energy produced by panels is fed into an inverter that converts DC power into AC power, which is feed into the main electrical panel that powers one’s home or business.
- This AC power that is now available at home or business is identical to the power supplied by the utility grid; appliances or equipment cannot tell the difference.
Our objective is to reduce one’s yearly electric bill to $0.00 or first tier (as close as possible), without creating a surplus for the Utility Provider. This does not include increase of power needs for additional electric appliances. At this time in this area, homeowners are not allowed to receive profits from PV Systems, only reductions in one’s electric utility bill.
PV costs are based on homeowner’s one-year electric expenses
- These costs do not include future rate increases
- Amount of daylight is a yearly average of 5 hours/day
Turning Light into Clean, Affordable Electricity Solar panels silently convert light into electricity. They have no moving parts, require little maintenance and are designed to last for many years. Solar panels use the “photovoltaic effect”, discovered by Edmund Becquerel in 1839, to produce electricity directly from sunlight. Solar panels work best in direct sunshine, but they also work well even on cloudy days.
Solar panels can supply a substantial proportion of the electricity needs of a typical household. They are often mounted on the roof or on the ground and connected to the local electric utility, either supplying all the power directly to the home or pumping the excess back to the utility.
Solar panels are also used for commercial applications ranging from large-scale power plants to small family-run businesses. The applications are almost endless, but each has the same idea in mind: harnessing the power of the sun to make clean, affordable electricity.
